STARS OUT FOR ROB KNOX MOVIE
Charity Campaigner and Dancing on Ice star Heather Mills, EastEnders Sam Attwater and Neil McDermott, Ground Force legend Tommy Walsh, Mark Wingett from The Bill, writer and actress Kay Mellor, Newsround presenter Sonali Gudka and fitness guru Diana Moran were amongst the high-profile personalities attending a special screening of Ray Winstone knife crime movie Cold Kiss at BBC White City in London.
The film, about the affect of street violence on families, is in memory of murdered Harry Potter star Rob Knox. Rob’s father Colin Knox (pictured with Mark, Sam, Neil and Tommy) gave a very raw and moving account of how living alone means his evenings and weekends are, as the second anniversary of Rob’s death approaches, a time for not only remembering his son but also spear-heading a personal campaign to tackle knife crime involving meeting street gang members.
A capacity crowd filled the BBC’s Fifth Floor Suite for the screening which was followed by an insightful discussion, fronted by newscaster Lisa Aziz, with Colin and Cold Kiss director Nirpal Bhogal. Nirpal explained how he had written a part especially for screen legend Ray Winstone who waived his fee as he was so concerned about street violence and how the filming was completed in three very long shooting days.
The event, supporting the Rob Knox Memorial Fund, was organised by celebrity booking agency Express Black Book with the support of the BBC and TESCO. Black Book Talent Executive Simon Wilson said “Everything came together on the night. Stars from our most popular TV shows, a powerful and thought provoking film, and a full house in a great venue meant it was a very memorable evening for everyone.”
